Program

We operate under a play-based philosophy and all the learning children do in our care is through the lens of developmentally appropriate, play-based activities. We do not do worksheets and we believe that children grow and learn best when they are allowed to play freely, learn at their own pace and according to their natural interests, and when they develop a strong sense of self-awareness and confidence.

We make sure our students have access to various stimulating activities throughout the day.  We encourage supervised, self-directed play both indoors and outdoors with a variety of books, toys, art supplies, puzzles, and games.  We help even the youngest students participate in art, music, reading, cooking, water play, and gardening to their ability and interest levels.  We encourage our students to be messy, creative, and free with their activities and we work best with parents who have the same philosophy! We value lots of outdoor exploration and think that fresh air, time in nature, and getting dirty are essential elements for the healthy development of children. We have a no-screen policy during the day.

Through our shared play and meal times, we give children the opportunity to develop social skills like sharing, respect for different ages and abilities, communication, observation, independence, and conflict resolution.

We prepare fresh, home-cooked snacks and lunches daily using organic fruits, vegetables, and milk. We do not allow children to bring their own lunch and we cannot accommodate special dietary restrictions or severe allergies.

A sample menu is available here.

We have partnered with Laura Fonseca, MM, MT-BC, at Stepping Tones, Inc. to provide bi-weekly, music-therapist-crafted classes to the children. We love when Laura comes to visit! Check her out:

Community is Our Mission

with monthly movie nights, community donation events, babysitting services, and family outings, we strive to create a true second family for our clients. We love when families create connections within our group and we cherish keeping in touch with children for years after they have left our program.
